The GMAT 2026 Focus Edition consists of three 45-minute sections—Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights—totaling 2 hours and 15 minutes, with computer-adaptive scoring and flexible section order.

Overview

The GMAT Focus Edition 2026 is designed to assess skills essential for graduate management programs, emphasizing higher-order reasoning, data literacy, and analytical problem-solving. The exam has 64 questions divided into three sections, each lasting 45 minutes. The total duration is 2 hours and 15 minutes. The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) and Integrated Reasoning sections have been removed to streamline the test and reduce fatigue 

Sections

1. Quantitative Reasoning
  • Purpose: Measures problem-solving and numerical reasoning skills.
  • Format: 21 questions in 45 minutes.
  • Content: Focuses on algebra and arithmetic, including linear and quadratic equations, functions, number properties, ratios, percentages, probability, combinatorics, and coordinate geometry. Traditional geometry questions are largely removed.
    Data Sufficiency questions are now part of the Data Insights section.
  • Calculator: Not allowed.
2. Verbal Reasoning
  • Purpose: Tests reading comprehension and critical reasoning.
  • Format: 23 questions in 45 minutes.
  • Content: Includes Reading Comprehension (passages up to 350 words)
    and Critical Reasoning (logical argument analysis).
    Sentence Correction questions have been eliminated.
3. Data Insights
  • Purpose: Evaluates data literacy and decision-making skills.
  • Format: 20 questions in 45 minutes.
  • Content: Combines elements of the former Data Sufficiency and Integrated Reasoning
    sections, focusing on interpreting multiple data sources, analyzing trends,
    and making informed decisions. A basic on-screen calculator is available for this section.
Adaptive Testing and Features
  • Computer-Adaptive: Each section adjusts question difficulty based on your responses, providing a precise measure of ability.
  • Section Order Flexibility:
    Candidates can choose the order of the three sections, with six possible
    combinations to match personal strategy.
  • Question Review & Edit: You can bookmark questions and review them at the end of each section.
Scoring
  • Score Range: 205–805, reported in 10-point increments.
  • Section Scores:
    Each section is scored individually on a 60–90 scale with 1-point increments. All sections contribute equally to the total score. No essay score is included.
  • Validity: Scores are valid for 5 years.
